Anthony E. Nortz

Huntington, West Virginia

Anthony E. Nortz joined McQueen Davis in August of 2016, making a transition from general practice in New York to full time civil litigation. After graduating from St. Lawrence University with a bachelor's degree in History, he attended the West Virginia University College of Law until May of 2015.

During law school Anthony was an active mediator in the West Virginia Bar's Magistrate Court Mediation Program. In addition to mediating cases he helped select and train student mediators to compete in American Bar Association mediation and negotiation competitions. In 2013 Anthony spent his summer in Clarksburg with the Legal Aid of West Virginia, developing a strong connection with the people of this state.

Anthony was also a member of the United States Patent and Trademark Clinic Pilot Program at West Virginia University. Anthony received a USPTO student certification to practice trademark law and developed a passion for trademark research, analysis and prosecution. Since joining McQueen Davis he has pursued this interest by devoting part of his practice to intellectual property registration and litigation.

A native of Lewis County, New York, in 2015 Anthony began working with the Young Law Office in Lowville. In a rural community wedged between the St. Lawrence River Valley and the Adirondack Mountains, Anthony worked closely with local businesses pursuing state liquor licensing, contract negotiation and drafting, contract litigation, along with real estate and asset transfers. His first glimpse at the value of civil litigation came when he won a motion allowing an elderly co-signer of a student loan to recover over $19,000.00 from a collection agency that had improperly been granted a default judgment.

As a new member of McQueen Davis Anthony intends to vigorously pursue civil litigation including contract disputes, employment discrimination, personal injuries, insurance bad faith, property injuries, intellectual property, and commercial litigation.

When not at the office, Anthony enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and reading about anything other than politics. He currently resides in Scott Depot, West Virginia with his dog, Chase.
